Ever wanted to visit the charity Children Of-Sumatra first hand? This could be your chance!
I’ve been involved in supporting this great charity ever since I met the founder Katie in 2005, when Aceh was reeling from the Tsunami disaster. This small but incredibly dedicated charity has changed the lives of 100’s of children…..literally.
Teaming up with Adventure Aid, you now have the chance to meet the charity and children in person and be inspired by how young lives are being transformed. The trip also includes visits to the orang utans and to famous Lake Toba. By joining this tour to Sumatra your money will directly go to supporting the cleft lip and palate operations provided to the children.
Please check out the link below for more details and share on your fb page.We have partnered with a small charity called Children of Sumatra based on an island north of Sumatra run by Katie and her field man Nafi based in Siantar. The charity aim to carry out as many cleft lip and palate operations as possible on children affected across the island with operations carried out at Harapan Jaya Hospital in Siantar during September and October each year. Both Katie and Nafi journey out to the remote villages to find the children but over the past few years are getting more and more people contacting them for help, which is great considering Sumatra is predominantly a muslim country, which does create barriers being the offer of assistance is coming from a Christian based organisation.
Having carried out our exploratory visit in January 2016, the 8 day trips will run annually (Jan-April) starting in 2017 for a team up to 14 people. The funds raised from each trip will go to change the lives of at least 25 children and with their operations taking place in the October the team meet see the difference they have made when they meet them in following year.
