Help raise money
If you feel you would like to contribute in some way to our charity there are a number of ways you can do so. Firstly, we are always looking for motivated, energetic people who are passionate about our work to help us to fund raise. We have a strong following of supporters in the Sussex region of the UK and have been lucky enough to have various small events put on to raise money for our charity. This is not the only way to do so however, people these days are raising money by engaging everything from extreme sports achievements or adrenaline pumped activities to talks given at schools, businesses and associations, all of which gain sponsorship from those involved.
If this is something you are interested in doing and you are creative in your thinking, there are endless ways to help us to fund raise and continue our work. Have a look at what our friends have been doing.
Becoming a volunteer
Come and visit us in Sumatra with Adventure Aid, a small charity with whom we have recently partnered. Adventure Aid is raising money for us by arranging great adventure trips around Sumatra. You meet some of the children we help, visit nearby Lake Toba, the biggest volcanic lake in the world, and hang out with the famous Sumatran orang-utans. Please learn more by visiting their website: http://www.adventureaid.org.uk/sumatra/
The Children of Sumatra is a very small charity which runs on very limited funds. Our work would not be possible if it were not for the volunteer teams that come out every year to help us. Nurses are an essential part of our team and over the years we have been blessed to have so many fantastic nurses work with us from all over the world. We only have two part time members of staff that receive Indonesian salaries and the rest of the team consist of volunteers who help ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
Previous volunteers
We would like to thank all of our amazing volunteers who have traveled to Indonesia over the years to offer their help and support. Our grassroots charity thrives on love and compassion and it is essential to have fun-loving volunteers joining us every year to keep our costs low. We believe the money donated should be for the children, so we try to keep our costs as low as possible. Working with the charity can be tough at times, but over the years we have found that it is the community we make; the laughs we share; and, the smiles we create that gets us through it. You guys have helped us keep this charity alive. We might be small but we make a huge difference to the children of Sumatra. Thank you.
