We first met Marles when he was 7 years-old. He was a very sick boy and was unable to have surgery due to Tuberculosis. Marles had never had the chance of surgery due to poverty so his lip and palate were still wide open causing much difficulty with eating and subsequently nutrition. Marles stayed in our care until his TB was cured. We kept him on a good diet which enabled him to be ready for surgery the following year. He had his lip and palate both repaired in one operation and the results were amazing. A friend of our charity has recently sponsored Marles which has allowed us to put him into a very good school and he is now living at Harapan Jaya where he can receive all the speech therapy he needs. Marles is such a clever boy and at last he is getting the best chance of a future, which he so deserves.
